I recognise one face in the picture, but that's not surprising seems it is white, LOL. Looking forward to hearing about the vision for Sudan. As for Kadina, your involvment with Joseph has expanded the churches focus here in Kadina.I say expanded because their is no intention to reduce existing support but a strong case for expanding it to include two major focus areas in Sudan and Niger. We have made small contributions to heaps of appeals, incl bible societies etc. The Mission focus has been strong in that Ruth Perkins left Kadina church for mission with SIM some twenty years ago and their support has continued for her and will do so as she returns to Niger for another three year term. New interest in GMP has been kindled and our mission interest is expanding to include a major monthly mission focus on at least one of a group of mission agencies we support with ongoing regular updates on all of them. Hi Graham. Your enthusiasm is encouraging. of course we will do our best to share news... and financial contributions will be very helpful. But we are looking to establish partnerships which are more than sending newsletters and receiving money (and prayers of course). We want to establish personal links between churches, pastors, individuals and communities. Its going to take some time to evolve, but we are convinced it is the only way to have balanced relationships between our respective communities, and the best way to empower and transform everyone involved. Best wishes, Steve
This site provides a narrative of my unexpected involvement in mission and community development in South Sudan. Commencing with a decision to sponsor a family of South Sudanese refugees in 2004 which led to my first exploratory visit to Sudan in 2008, this has since grown into a fruitful partnership resulting in programs that provide support for war orphans, education opportunities, agricultural development, rehabilitation of slaves, and training of Traditional Birth Attendants and Enrolled Midwives.
My connection with South Sudan began in 2004 when our church sponsored a refugee family, and my involvement in ministry amongst Sudanese grew rapidly from that time. My partner in this ministry from the beginning has been Rev Joseph Mawien, and it was his request that led to our first trip to Sudan in 2008 from which this mission has grown.
The relationship with Bangladesh has also grown out of a friendship. Vana Bawm first contacted me in 2009 and we have worked closely together since.
I consider myself incredibly blessed to have been given the opportunity to provide mission and development in these two beautiful countries. I am thankful to my two dear brothers, Joseph and Vana - wise and visionary Christian leaders. It is through them that I have been received as family even before entering their countries.
